A Women’s Month initiative that provided 150 packs of sanitary products and toiletries to young women in Orange Farm could pave the way for broader health and education projects in the area.
Regenesys Education’s School of Health Sciences, in partnership with the Ananda Jayanti Community Development Centre, held the initiative on 14 August as part of the “Let’s Support. Let’s Empower.” campaign.
The programme focused on menstrual health and personal hygiene, addressing challenges faced by young women who may not always have access to essential products. Organisers said this can affect confidence and participation in education, work and everyday life.
Beyond distributing hygiene packs, the programme promoted menstrual health awareness and encouraged residents and organisations to play a greater role in supporting young women.
Regenesys representative Tebogo Hlapolosa said even small contributions could have a meaningful impact.
“Small contributions can make a meaningful difference in the lives of young women. Through initiatives like this, we want to support their dignity, confidence and wellbeing while encouraging communities to play an active role in creating positive change,” Hlapolosa said.
The initiative carried the message “Small donations, big impact”, highlighting how collective action can respond to practical needs.
Regenesys plans to continue the programme monthly with Ananda Jayanti, focusing on health and wellbeing while building greater community participation.
Its plans for Orange Farm also extend beyond the hygiene initiative.
The organisation is exploring the establishment of a community clinic aimed at improving access to essential healthcare services. The proposal remains in the planning stages and no opening date has been announced.
Regenesys is also considering ways to support and increase capacity at a local primary school to strengthen educational opportunities and provide children with a more supportive learning environment.
These plans form part of a broader approach that includes healthcare, education, youth development, skills and wellbeing.
Through its ongoing work with Ananda Jayanti, Regenesys hopes to develop projects that respond to local needs and deliver sustainable benefits.
The monthly initiative will meanwhile continue providing practical support to young women and encouraging organisations and residents to become involved.
Regenesys said its longer-term ambitions reflect a commitment to investing in projects that can create lasting social impact in Orange Farm.
The programme carries the message: “Be part of the change. Be part of their future.”
