Siyaphambili Secondary recently hosted a Mental Health and Sexual Harassment Awareness Workshop aimed at equipping learners with essential knowledge on personal safety, mental well-being, and available support services.
The initiative was facilitated by L. Teme Paralegal Services, led by Ms Lindiwe Teme, in partnership with the City of Johannesburg Social Development Computer Clubhouse Skills Centre, represented by Mr Teboho Motubei. The programme brought together key stakeholders including Stretford Clinic, represented by Nurse Samkelisiwe, Childline South Africa, represented by Ms Sungulani Ndlovu, and Wheel Warriors, who contributed through presentations and interactive discussions focused on mental health awareness, sexual harassment prevention, personal safety, and reporting mechanisms.

Speaking during the workshop, Ms Lindiwe Teme emphasized the importance of creating safe spaces where learners can learn, speak openly, and access the support they need.
“We want learners to understand that their voices matter and that help is always within reach,” said Ms Teme.
Learners actively engaged throughout the session, participating in discussions, asking questions, and sharing their experiences in a supportive environment. Many expressed appreciation for the opportunity and called for similar workshops to be held regularly, highlighting the importance of ongoing awareness and support in schools.
Organisers extended their gratitude to Siyaphambili Secondary School for hosting the initiative and for its continued commitment to learner development and well-being.
