Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ) is systematically continuing with its annual autumn grass cutting, cleaning and maintenance programme across public parks in Region G, with the current focus directed toward the Far South of Johannesburg, including the Orange Farm regional parks precinct.
The ongoing programme forms part of JCPZ’s commitment to ensuring that public open spaces remain clean, safe, environmentally sustainable and accessible for all residents and visitors.
Work teams are actively undertaking grass cutting, litter removal, pruning, clearing and general park maintenance, with operations set to continue until all parks are restored to a high standard for public use.
JCPZ is further appealing to all residents, park users and communities residing adjacent to parks to work together with the entity in preserving these valuable public amenities.
Residents are urged to:
Refrain from illegally dumping domestic waste and rubble in parks and open spaces;
Encourage children and young people to keep parks clean and dispose of litter responsibly;
Report vandalism, theft of infrastructure and suspicious activity to park rangers and law enforcement authorities;
Assist in protecting public infrastructure and green spaces for future generations.

Illegal dumping and vandalism continue to place significant financial strain on the City’s operational resources, with litter collection and rehabilitation costs across parks and open spaces remaining staggeringly high. Greater public cooperation will assist in reducing these costs and ensure that more resources can be directed toward improving and expanding recreational facilities.
JCPZ also encourages residents and families to actively utilise their local parks for recreation, wellness and community activities.
Parents and guardians are reminded to supervise children at all times while visiting parks to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
Residents are encouraged to log all parks-related service delivery requests, maintenance complaints or incidents via:
