A 30-year-old man is expected to appear before Randburg Magistrates’ Court today, 31 July 2023, on charges of murder.

On 07 March 2023, the police in Midrand attended to a complaint of a burning vehicle at corner Brand and Swart Streets in President Park, Midrand. On their arrival at the scene, they found a Mecerdes Benz vehicle burning and after the fire was extinguished, human remains were found in the front seat.

An extensive investigation commenced and through DNA test, the victim was positively identified. The Provincial Investigation Unit worked tirelessly on the case and the investigations led the team to the victim’s boyfriend. A Warrant of arrest was issued for him and he fled to Durban in KwaZulu-Natal.

On 28 July 2023 the suspect was traced and arrested for murder and arson.

Police investigation continues.
