In a major breakthrough against livestock theft in the Vaal, 101 stolen cattle were recovered from a plot in Rietfontein, Poortjie. The livestock, allegedly stolen from a farm in Zuurbekom, was safely returned to the rightful owner.
A case of stock theft has been registered at Orange Farms Police Station and investigations are ongoing. However, no arrests have been made yet.
Sergeant SJ Motsapi confirmed the recovery and urged farmers to remain vigilant. “Stock theft remains a serious crime that affects the livelihoods of many farmers. We are committed to investigating this case thoroughly and bringing the culprits to justice,” he said.
Organized syndicates are frequently involved, making these crimes harder to combat. Authorities are calling on community members to report any suspicious activities that could help with ongoing investigations.
