Nqobile Xulu: My Facebook was hacked to deceive people
Nqobile urges everyone to refrain from sending money to individuals impersonating her on Facebook.

Nqobile Xulu, a 20-year-old student from Driezik 4, attending Wits University, shares her painful story of being hacked. The hacker used her Facebook account to scam people out of money and damage her reputation.

She now seeks help in clearing her name and capturing the culprit before more damage is done to her and others.

She shared with Orange Farm News: “I’ve been dealing with my old Facebook account being hacked. Last year, around June, my account was compromised. The hacker changed my password, email and phone number, locking me out. Since then, this person has been using my account to deceive people, asking for money.”

“Initially, I was promoting shoes for someone. I think the hacker saw that I was posting about shoes and then started posting shoes, claiming to sell them and taking people’s money. Now, I’ve heard that they are selling iPhones. I’ve informed many people about the hack, including posting on my new account to warn others. “

“However, the hacker continues to use my old account, pretending to be me and exploiting unsuspecting individuals. I reported the issue to the police last year, but they said they can’t help me unless I sue the hacker, which is impossible since I don’t know who they are or how to find them.”

“My mom went to Capitec Bank to report the person’s account number, but they said they can’t block the fraudulent account. They did, however, provide a letter stating that the account is being used for fraud, to raise awareness and caution among those who may encounter the fraudulent account.”

“I’m reaching out to you in hopes that you can help me address this issue. The hacker’s actions are damaging my reputation and I’m concerned about the people being deceived into sending money or purchasing items from them. I’ll really appreciate assistance.”
