Kweneng FC, situated in Ext 1, Orange Farm, has a rich history. Founded by Mr. Khumalo, the proprietor of Kweneng Pub, in 2020, the club has been an integral part of the local sports scene. In an exciting announcement, Kweneng FC is gearing up to host its inaugural Spring Soccer Festival Tournament, scheduled from September 9 to 17, at the Ext 1 Park Ground.

Boasting three divisions—namely the first team, masters, and Amakroko—Kweneng FC has already made its mark. However, the club’s ambitions extend beyond the existing divisions. With the goal of expanding their roster, they are set to introduce U11, U13, U15, and U17 divisions, paving the way for budding talent to flourish.

The club is particularly focused on providing opportunities for the youth in and around Ext 1, recognizing a lack of avenues for talented players in the Vaal region to progress to professional levels. Driven by this vision, Kweneng FC is dedicated to transforming the local sports landscape. By hosting these tournaments, they aim to spotlight the untapped potential of homegrown athletes.

Kweneng FC extends an invitation to larger teams, encouraging their participation not only for the sake of competition but also to scout and nurture emerging talent. The organizers expressed their belief in the transformative power of such events, envisioning a future where local players can excel on a grander stage.

Support for the Spring Soccer Festival Tournament is pouring in, with notable names like Suluman FC, Mshengu11 FC, and Ama Pitbull FC pledging their support.

The event’s draw is scheduled to take place on September 6th and 7th at Kweneng Pub, adding an element of anticipation to the upcoming tournament.

Teams interested in affiliating are required to pay a fee of R1650, which includes the referee fee. The stakes are high, with a substantial prize of R15000 and a sheep awaiting the victorious team, while the runners-up will be rewarded with R5000.

As the tournament’s excitement builds, Kweneng FC emphasizes the commitment required to secure a spot. A non-refundable joining fee is applicable, but teams can secure their participation by placing a R1000 deposit.

With the Spring Soccer Festival Tournament on the horizon, Kweneng FC is not only promoting athleticism but also fostering a sense of community, unity, and the promise of a brighter future for local soccer talent.
