Adolescents and young adults in Evaton North now have access to dedicated healthcare support following the official launch of Adolescent and Youth-Friendly Services (AYFS) at Mpumelelo Clinic on Friday, 9 October 2026.
The initiative aims to improve access to quality healthcare while creating a safe, confidential and non-judgmental environment for young people.
Services include health counselling, sexual and reproductive healthcare, HIV and sexually transmitted infection (STI) prevention, mental health support and guidance on making informed health decisions.
Sedibeng District Health Services highlighted the importance of removing barriers that discourage young people from seeking medical assistance.
“The initiative seeks to address challenges such as stigma, discrimination and limited access to accurate health information, while empowering young people to take responsibility for their health and well-being,” the department stated.
Through AYFS, the clinic aims to encourage early healthcare intervention, promote healthier lifestyles and ensure young people receive appropriate support without fear of judgement.
