In the spirit of Youth Day and Mandela Month, members of the Methodist Church Ext 2 reached out to the Ekuphumuleni Home of Peace on 16 June, donating essential items to support the residents of the home.
The congregation donated a variety of much-needed essentials, including food, toiletries, cleaning supplies and other household necessities. The initiative aimed to bring comfort and hope to vulnerable members of the community while encouraging a culture of compassion and service.
Church members spent time interacting with residents, sharing words of encouragement and reminding them that they are valued and not forgotten.
Speaking during the handover, Esther Madonsela, founder of Ekuphumuleni Home of Peace Organisation and Development Center in Ext 9 Phase 2, expressed gratitude for the support.
“We are truly grateful for the kindness shown by the Methodist Church Ext 2. Their support means a lot to our residents, as it helps us continue providing care and dignity to those who need it most. Acts like these remind us that we are not alone and that the community still cares,” said Madonsela.
Representatives from Ekuphumuleni Home of Peace thanked the church for its generosity, noting that donations of essential items help meet the daily needs of residents and make a meaningful difference in their lives.
The donation reflects the Methodist Church Ext 2’s ongoing commitment to serving the community and inspiring others to lend a helping hand to those in need.
