Nine Orange Farm primary schools will benefit from the newly launched Ikgantshe – Be Proud ‘Feeding the little artist in me’ project aiming to enhance art education.

The Struggles Theatre Production’s project was kickstarted at Tshepana Primary on 9 June. It will provide learners with opportunities to engage in artistic activities and learn the four different art forms in order to develop their creative skills and challenge them to be critical thinkers.

The project, taking place in Region G, will see 20 local artists transferring their knowledge to the youngsters. They will emphasise collaboration and team work amongst learners, increase awareness of what’s happening in the society through drama, music, visual arts and dance.

Ikgnatshe will include school festivals and competitions to encourage learners to use their imagination and creativity.

Struggles Theatre Productions is a non-profit company established in 2019 by Nonkululeko ‘Nkulee K’ Khoza focusing on skills development programs for youth, promotes high self-esteem, positive behavior change and problem solving and artistic skills.

“Our youth participate in performing arts programs that include school projects where they are Creative Arts Facilitators. The launch was a huge success, watch this space as we roll out his exciting project. Also be on the lookout for our online TV on all our social media platforms.” Khoza told Orange Farm News.

Struggles Theatre has partnered with other local art organisations to make this project a success.
