Approximately 10 heavily armed suspects descended on the Plus Supermarket shopping complex at around 1.15am bombing four ATMs before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspects, allegedly carrying assault rifles and pistols, first targeted the complex’s locked main entrance gate before confronting a security guard.

According to Orange Farms SAPS spokesperson Sergeant SJ Motsapi, the gang used explosives to gain access to the premises.

“It is alleged that suspects started to bomb the main entrance locked gate to the shopping complex and instructed one security guard from guard room to come out and cornered them on the ground nearby,” said Motsapi.

He added: “A few minutes later, the suspects started to bomb all four ATM machines and fired several guns shots on the air, the suspects left the crime scene by foot carrying a bag with undisclosed money. Few empty cartridges were found at the scene. No arrests have been made yet.”
