Vision in Action Volleyball Club is celebrating another proud milestone after three of its players were selected to represent Gauteng at the upcoming national schools volleyball championships in the Eastern Cape.
Established in August 2019 and officially registered as both a Non-Profit Company (NPC) and Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) in 2020, the Orange Farm-based club has built a strong reputation for developing young volleyball talent. Since 2021, the club has consistently produced players who have gone on to represent Gauteng and compete at national level.
This year, Nhlanhla Mofokeng of Orange Farm Secondary School, Londiwe Zisongo of Oakdale Secondary School, and Lindokuhle Nkosi of Leshata Secondary School earned provincial selection after impressive performances during the trials.
Adding to the achievement, Vision in Action head coach Mthokozisi Morolong has been appointed as the Gauteng Under-14 Boys head coach for the national championships. It will be the first time he coaches his own players at the tournament, making the occasion even more meaningful.
Morolong said watching his players’ names being announced during the selection process was a proud and emotional moment.
“It was a great feeling to see them being selected. I have coached many players who went to nationals before, but this year is different because I will be there with them as the Gauteng Under-14 boys head coach. Knowing that I will continue guiding them at the tournament makes this achievement even more special,” Morolong told OFN.
He said Vision in Action has remained committed to developing both players and coaches within the community.
“Since 2021, we have had players representing Gauteng every year. Some qualify once, while others return several times in different age groups. That consistency shows that we are building something sustainable. We also invest in developing coaches by identifying potential, providing training opportunities and helping them become qualified” Morolong added.
Morolong added that while the players train with Vision in Action, they will be representing their respective schools and Gauteng at the national schools championships.
The club’s continued success reflects its commitment to creating opportunities for young athletes and raising the standard of volleyball in Orange Farm.
Orange Farm Sports Council chairperson Thato Tsotetsi congratulated the players and coaching staff on their achievement, saying their selection is a proud moment for the community and an inspiration to aspiring young athletes.
Sports and Recreation representative Lucky Mathetha also praised the club for consistently producing talented volleyball players and contributing to the growth of sport in Orange Farm.
