Twenty-eight children spent their July school holidays learning, creating and building confidence through a week-long programme hosted by Intouch Youth Development and Community Justice at the Old Multipurpose Centre in Orange Farm Extension 1.
The initiative provided a safe and engaging space where children could remain active while schools were closed, with each participant attending the programme consistently from Monday to Friday.
Throughout the week, the learners took part in educational workshops, tutoring sessions, sports, arts and crafts, team-building activities and a talent showcase. The programme was designed to promote academic development, creativity, leadership, teamwork and self-confidence while allowing children to enjoy their school break in a positive environment.
Founder of Intouch Youth Development and Community Justice, Dr Ronney Kapaso, said the programme reflects the organisation’s commitment to creating positive opportunities for children during school holidays and supporting their personal growth.
“School holidays should be a time where children continue learning, discovering their talents and building positive relationships. Through programmes like these, we create opportunities that encourage young people to believe in themselves, make responsible choices and understand their potential to become future leaders in their communities. Every child we empower today contributes to building a stronger Orange Farm tomorrow,” said Dr Kapaso.
The programme forms part of Intouch Youth Development and Community Justice’s ongoing efforts to provide children with safe spaces where they can learn, develop important life skills and stay engaged through meaningful activities beyond the classroom.
Beyond the activities, the programme fostered a welcoming environment where children formed new friendships, expressed themselves freely and developed important life skills that extend beyond the classroom.
With schools reopening, Intouch Youth Development and Community Justice is encouraging parents and guardians to enrol their children in its Homework Assistance Educational Support Programme. The initiative offers homework support, reading assistance, mentorship and academic guidance to help learners improve their performance throughout the school term.
Parents and guardians interested in registering their children can contact the organisation on 076 808 1214 or visit the Old Multipurpose Centre in Orange Farm Extension 1.
Through initiatives such as its school holiday programme, Intouch Youth Development and Community Justice continues to create opportunities that empower young people and contribute to a brighter future for the Orange Farm community.
