The Gauteng Department of Community Safety, together with members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the Community Policing Forum (CPF), conducted a crime awareness programme on 10 June at the Tjovitjo Informal Settlement .
The initiative focused on educating residents about crime prevention and strengthening partnerships between communities and law enforcement agencies. Through door-to-door visits, officials engaged residents on personal safety, crime prevention measures, the importance of reporting criminal activities, and the role communities can play in creating safer neighbourhoods.
Residents were encouraged to work closely with SAPS and the CPF by reporting suspicious activities and participating in community safety initiatives. The outreach also emphasized the importance of cooperation between residents and law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime.
The programme forms part of ongoing efforts by the Gauteng Department of Community Safety to promote public awareness and strengthen community involvement in crime prevention across the province.
