In a powerful step toward professionalising football in Orange Farm, the Mau-Mau Youth Soccer League (MYSL) hosted its first-ever Referees Workshop on 28 June at Old Multipurpose.

The workshop marked a crucial milestone in building a fair, structured and competitive football environment for young players in the region. Led by renowned local football figure Clifford Motaung a former PSL referee, current referee instructor, match commissioner and head of referee appointments in Sedibeng – the session covered vital topics such as the rules of the game, referee code of conduct and matchday procedures.

Lucas Mau-Mau, founder of MYSL told Orange Farm News: “We believe that for our league to grow, we must invest in all areas of the game including those who uphold the rules. This workshop is just the beginning of a bigger vision to bring integrity and professionalism into local football.”

Due to high demand and the positive impact of the workshop, MYSL plans to host a second session – this time extending invitations to all coaches, referees and players. Upon completion, participants will receive certificates, a valuable addition for those who may one day assist in VAR Technical Teams at higher-level competitions.

Official details for the next workshop will be announced soon. MYSL appreciates the continued support from the media and local community in growing the game from the grassroots up.
