Goals flowed and competition intensified at Seipone School Ground on Saturday, 17 October, as teams battled for honours in the Orange Farm Local Football Association (OFLFA) Ladies Soccer League.
Panthers Ladies stole the spotlight with a remarkable 8–1 victory over Ambitiouz Sporting, producing the highest-scoring result of the reported fixtures. Their dominant performance was among the day’s biggest highlights.
However, Ambitiouz Sporting refused to let the heavy defeat define their day. The team showed resilience by bouncing back to claim a 2–0 victory over Black Seven.
Vaal 016 FC were equally impressive, delivering a convincing 7–0 win against Bayern FC before facing a tougher challenge against Ellite Queens. A narrow 1–0 victory in their second encounter ensured they finished the day with two wins and eight goals scored.
Beyond the results, the matches demonstrated the determination and competitive spirit of female footballers eager to make their mark on the local sporting scene.
Patrick Mokwena applauded the initiative for providing young women with opportunities to grow through football.
“Women’s football deserves a strong platform. Matches like these help players develop their skills, build confidence and inspire other young women to participate,” Mokwena said.
Played under the theme “Football, Unity and Empowerment”, the league continues to create opportunities for female players to gain valuable match experience while encouraging greater participation in grassroots football.
With impressive scorelines and determined performances, the weekend’s action offered another encouraging glimpse into the talent emerging from the local women’s football community.
