During the school holidays, while many children were at risk of spending their days on the streets with little to do, Bumble Tree Aftercare opened its doors to give them something meaningful – a place to learn, play, laugh and grow.
The school holiday programme, held from 29 June to 3 July at Wesel Church in Orange Farm Ext 7b, near Chicco Salon, was created to keep children safe, active and positively engaged during the recess.
Instead of idle days, the children enjoyed a full programme of activities that balanced learning with fun. They received homework assistance, exam preparation support, reading skill development and presentation skill training, while also taking part in art and culture activities and sports.
Abel Mosianedi, founder of Bumble Tree Aftercare told OFN: “The aim of this programme is to keep children off the streets during the school holidays and give them a safe space where they can learn, play and grow. We want every child to feel supported, encouraged and motivated to become the best version of themselves.”
The programme gave children more than just supervision. It gave them encouragement, confidence and a sense of belonging. Through reading, creativity, teamwork and play, Bumble Tree Aftercare helped create a space where young minds could stay focused, express themselves and build important life skills.
Bumble Tree Aftercare continues to show that aftercare is not only about keeping children occupied after school – it is about protecting their future, nurturing their talents and giving them a safe place to become the best version of themselves.
The regular aftercare programme runs from Monday to Friday, 3pm to 5pm.
