Orange Farm Cricket’s U13 girls team made history on Monday, 15 June 2026, when they were crowned Jozi Cup Champions at DP World Wanderers.
The victory marked a major milestone for the club, which lifted the prestigious trophy for the first time. It was the culmination of a challenging journey that tested the team’s character, determination and belief from the opening match to the final.
According to coach Bongani Ramethe, the team entered the tournament as underdogs, with few people expecting them to go all the way. However, the girls remained focused and continued to prove themselves with every match they played.
“The road was never easy. We faced tough opponents, long days and moments where our character was truly tested. But these girls showed heart, discipline and belief throughout the tournament,” said Ramethe.
He reserved special praise for the sponsors who supported the team throughout the campaign.
“We could not have done this without you. Your belief in Orange Farm Cricket gave these U13 girls an opportunity to compete, to dream and to achieve. Every kit, every transport cost and every bit of support you gave us since day one mattered. You invested in more than a team — you invested in a community. And that investment became history.”
Ramethe also thanked the parents, supporters and management team for standing behind the players throughout the tournament.
“As coach, I want to say I appreciate you all. Coaching this Jozi Cup team was not easy, but seeing these U13 girls lift that trophy at Wanderers made every challenge worth it,” he said.
The achievement is a proud moment for Orange Farm Cricket and a reminder of what can be accomplished when a community comes together behind its young talent.
