On 20 March, Gauteng MEC for Health and Wellness, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko, led an integrated health outreach at Eyethu Mall in Orange Farm, delivering essential medical services directly to residents, shoppers and retail workers.
The initiative forms part of the province’s Corner to Corner programme, brings healthcare closer to communities through mobile clinics and on-site support. Services offered include HIV testing, TB screening, diabetes and hypertension checks, child immunisations, STI screening and treatment, Pap smears, PrEP initiation, prostate cancer screening, and health education.
“This programme is about bringing services closer to our people, ensuring access to quality healthcare, and strengthening prevention and early detection to reduce the burden of disease in our communities,” said Nkomo-Ralehoko.
Health officials said the programme aims to improve early detection, expand access to care and reduce pressure on fixed health facilities by meeting patients where they are.
The outreach began earlier in the morning and forms part of a broader Integrated Health Services campaign in the area, which also includes community cleaning efforts and doorstep service delivery at local clinics.
