SABC Sport has gathered that Orlando Pirates youngster Relebohile Mofokeng is currently in England for an assessment following his impressive start to life in the DStv Premiership.

The 18-year-old made his debut for the Buccaneers senior side towards the end of last season, before registering a goal and an assist in just his second appearance in the 4-0 rout of AmaZulu on 20 May.

He has since gone on to establish himself as a regular in coach Jose Riveiro’s side this season, managing six starts and a further five substitute appearances across domestic and continental competitions so far.

According to insiders, Mofokeng, along with two club officials, on Sunday jetted out to Europe, where it’s understood he is undergoing an assessment with an unnamed English Football League Championship side.

Riveiro on Wednesday afternoon, during the club’s Carling Knockout pre-match press conference in Parktown, Johannesburg, confirmed that the player is currently on trial at Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers FC.

Upon further investigation, SABC Sport also established that third tier outfit Reading FC is another club that have been closely monitoring the teenager for some time.He was also impressive during their recent pre-season trip to Spain, and its believed he caught a few more clubs’ attention with his performances.

The public broadcaster also understands during the recent MTN8 Final against Mamelodi Sundowns, scouts were also present in Durban to watch him, as there has been ongoing talks regarding the youngster.

It’s expected Mofokeng will not be back for this Friday’s Carling Knockout Cup opener, in which the Bucs will face Cape Town Spurs at Orlando Stadium. Should he end up signing in England, he will join Bafana Bafana forward Lyle Foster, who is also a product of Pirates’ youth development structures and currently plying his trade for Burnley in the English Premier League.
