Residents of Drieziek and surrounding areas gathered on 23 May 2026 for the first-ever Drieziek On The Run held at the Drieziek Ext 2 Show Houses.
The run featured 5km and 3km distances, allowing participants to either walk or run while enjoying a morning focused on fitness, fun and community spirit. Many participants embraced the lime theme by dressing in bright green outfits, adding energy and excitement to the occasion.
Event organiser Relebohile Seetsi said the run marked the beginning of a growing community initiative aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles and unity.
“This was the first of many runs to come,” said Seetsi.
She added that the initiative aims to keep people active while also bringing the community together in a positive way.
Seetsi said organisers are hoping to eventually host the run twice a month as support continues to grow.
“Our hope is that before the end of the year, or early next year, we can organise a bigger race around the area. We believe the community will continue supporting us and help make it bigger,” Seetsi added.
The successful turnout highlighted the community’s enthusiasm for fitness activities and left organisers optimistic about expanding the initiative in the future.
