In a shocking turn of events, Mamelodi Sundowns have parted ways with their coach, Rhulani Mokwena, sending shockwaves through the soccer community. Here are some thoughts from soccer fans in Orange Farm.

Gift Khoza:

Rhulani Mokwena has been instrumental in Sundowns’ recent success, helping the team secure back-to-back league titles and competing in the CAF Champions League. His departure is a significant loss and Sundowns should not let him go. His track record with the team is excellent, making this news truly surprising.

Siviwe Mau-Mau:

It’s unfair that Rhulani Mokwena is being let go so abruptly. He has been a loyal and successful coach for Sundowns. When you achieve success on your own terms, it can create friction and that’s what seems to have happened here. They accuse Rhulani of being arrogant, but listening to everyone’s opinions can lead to failure. He should part ways amicably and time will reveal the true story behind his departure and his relationship with technical director Flemming Berg. Whoever secures his services next will be fortunate. He has done an incredible job at Sundowns, building on the foundation left by Pitso Mosimane. Jingles himself would be the perfect replacement; otherwise, it’s hard to see another coach leading Sundowns to the top.

Molefi Mpe:

It’s a sad day for Mamelodi Sundowns FC as young coach Rhulani Mokwena leaves the club. This situation highlights how often we neglect the mental health of individuals. Despite being a winning coach, the strain of not seeing eye to eye with his colleague, sporting director Flemming Berg, led to his departure. In every workplace, unhappy employees struggle to perform. Rhulani Mokwena has inspired many young aspiring coaches in our country.

Inkabi Yamafeleb:

Mokwena’s exit is shocking and unexpected. He did great work at Sundowns and his departure hurts, especially considering his impressive track record. Players are likely disappointed as well. Though such things happen, Sundowns will continue to perform well because the foundation Mokwena laid is strong. I wish him all the best in his future endeavors; he is a great coach and will succeed wherever he goes.
