In a harrowing incident this morning, a man in his 30s lost his life while another 28-year-old is admitted at a local hospital after an abandoned building collapsed on them at the Chris Hani Sports Complex in Orange Farm Ext 4.
Local authorities were immediately alerted, and the Gauteng Provincial Emergency Management Services (EMS) rushed to the scene to provide assistance. However, despite their best efforts, the other man was tragically pronounced dead on the spot while another was rushed to hospital for medical attention.
Joburg EMS spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi, told Orange Farm News: An abandoned building collapsed into two people, it looks like the man were trying to remove some building materials from the abandoned building when it collapsed on them. We urge residents to stay away from abandoned buildings and to refrain from removing materials from them so that we can be able to prevent incidents like this one.”
