A community sanitary pad drive is calling on residents to help ensure that a lack of menstrual products does not prevent young girls from attending school or participating fully in everyday life.
The initiative, led by Angel Sekgobela, is collecting sealed packs of sanitary pads to support girls who may struggle to access basic menstrual hygiene products.
Sekgobela said the campaign was created to draw attention to period poverty while encouraging residents to make a practical difference in the lives of young girls.
“Period poverty is real, but together we can make a huge difference. No young woman should have to miss out on school or daily life simply because she doesn’t have access to basic menstrual products,” said Sekgobela.
She added that every contribution, regardless of size, can help restore dignity and provide much-needed support.
The campaign is encouraging residents to donate sealed packs of sanitary pads, contribute financially or simply share information about the drive to help it reach more people.
“Every single pack counts. The aim is to bring dignity and comfort to our girls and remind them that their community cares,” Sekgobela said.
Residents who would like to support the initiative or request more information can contact Sekgobela via WhatsApp on 073 745 5950.
Through the campaign, Sekgobela hopes community participation can turn awareness of period poverty into direct assistance for girls who need it most.
