Women gathered at Drieziek Library on August 18 for a Women’s Day programme that offered practical guidance on abuse, health, parenting, faith and entrepreneurship.
Librarian Nokukhanya Mathenjwa hosted the event with the support of library staff, creating a space for local women to learn, ask questions and share experiences.
Ntsoaki Seshabela from the NISAA Orange Farm office explained the different forms of abuse, survival strategies and where women can seek support.
Rethabile Likhethe spoke about healthy living and encouraged women to prioritise their physical and emotional wellbeing.
Nhlanhla Dlamini of Urban Home of South Africa addressed faith, raising a girl child and business opportunities. She also shared information about the organisation’s agricultural work in Drieziek, where vegetables are grown and sold within the community.
The programme included an open discussion on resilience, healing and moving forward, giving attendees an opportunity to engage with the speakers and one another.
Drieziek Library also provided information and resource material on health, abuse, business and women’s empowerment for participants to use beyond the event.
