Orange Farm United’s U9 side delivered a determined performance but were unable to avoid a 2-1 defeat to Action Sport during the Orange Farm Local Football Association fixtures played at the Multipurpose Ground on Friday, 10 July.
The young side showed character throughout the encounter, creating scoring opportunities and competing well against a disciplined Action Sport team. Although Orange Farm United found the back of the net, Action Sport capitalised on their chances to edge the closely contested match.
Despite the result, Orange Farm United displayed encouraging signs, with the players demonstrating teamwork, resilience and a fighting spirit until the final whistle. Their performance reflected the steady development of the team as they continue to gain valuable experience on the field.
Coach Sinethemba Zondo praised the players for their effort and commitment, saying the result does not take away from the progress the team is making.
“The boys gave their best on the day. We are still building and learning as a team, and every match gives these young players an opportunity to improve. We will take the lessons from this game and continue working hard,” said Zondo.
The match formed part of a busy day of Under-9 football at the Multipurpose Ground, where several local teams showcased their talent and passion for the game. The competition continues to provide young players with an important platform to develop their skills, confidence and understanding of football.
