The Mphethi Mahlatsi School Choir is preparing to showcase its talent at the upcoming SASCE Regional Competition, which will take place at Noordgesig Primary School this Sunday.
Choir conductor Bongani Maphanga said the choir is determined to deliver a strong performance and secure victory as they continue their pursuit of national recognition.
“We are expecting nothing but a win at this regional competition. Our ultimate goal is to qualify for the national championships this year,” said Maphanga.

He explained that although the choir has consistently performed well in previous years, finishing in second and third positions, members are determined to raise the bar this season.
“Over the years, we have been finishing in second and third place, but this year we are aiming much higher. The learners have worked hard and are fully committed to achieving success,” he said.
Should the choir qualify, they will advance to the provincial competition, which is scheduled to take place in Daveyton from 17 to 20 June.
With months of preparation behind them, the choir hopes to make their school and community proud as they compete against some of the region’s best young vocal talents.
