Emerging artists Mbalenhle Khoza and Kayy Hadebe are taking another step towards establishing themselves in South Africa’s music industry with the release of their collaborative single, Ithuba (Shobane).

Released through Rehabilitation Records in September 2026, the Afro-Pop and Afro-Soul single was produced by Elkiddy Mn and forms part of the record label’s efforts to develop emerging talent.

Khoza, who hails from Extension 7A, and Hadebe, from Drieziek 3, have joined forces on a project aimed at introducing their music to a wider audience.

The title Ithuba, meaning “opportunity” or “chance”, reflects the significance of creating platforms for aspiring musicians determined to make their mark in the entertainment industry.

Speaking about the release, Khoza said the song holds special meaning as it reflects their journey and determination to succeed.

“This song means a lot to us because it represents the opportunities we have been working towards. Coming from the township, we know how difficult it can be to get recognition, but we believe our talent and hard work can take us far. We want our music to inspire other young people to never give up on their dreams,” said Khoza.

For many young artists growing up in townships, pursuing a musical career comes with challenges, including limited access to professional recording facilities, financial support, promotion and industry connections.

Through projects such as this, Rehabilitation Records aims to bridge that gap by providing emerging musicians with opportunities to record, develop and share their work.

The collaboration also highlights the creative potential found in local communities, where talented individuals continue to pursue their ambitions despite the challenges associated with entering the competitive music industry.

With Ithuba (Shobane), Khoza and Hadebe are working to expand their reach while building their identities as recording artists.

Their release serves as another example of how locally produced music can find its way beyond township boundaries through digital platforms.

Ithuba (Shobane) is available on digital streaming platforms and YouTube, where music lovers can discover and support the collaboration.
