Local musician Qiniso Zungu, popularly known by his stage name Slova Slate, is steadily making a name for himself in the South African music industry after achieving significant milestones that have brought his talent into the national spotlight.

Hailing from Ext 6b, Zungu is among the emerging artists determined to prove that township talent deserves recognition on some of the country’s biggest entertainment platforms.

His musical journey recently gained momentum after two of his music videos, filmed in Ext 2 and 6, were playlisted on Trace Ngoma, providing an opportunity for his work to reach audiences beyond his community.

Another memorable milestone came when his music received airplay on Metro FM through legendary South African DJ and music producer Oskido, a moment the rising musician regards as one of his proudest achievements.

Zungu believes the recognition marks a significant breakthrough, describing himself as the first artist from his community to have a song played on the station by Oskido.

For an emerging artist trying to establish himself in a competitive industry, exposure on platforms such as Trace Ngoma and Metro FM represents an important step towards reaching new audiences and developing a stronger musical identity.

Reflecting on his journey and the importance of inspiring young people, Zungu shared a message about determination, ambition and the power of believing in one’s dreams.

“Coming from Orange Farm, I know that talent alone is not always enough to open doors. You have to fight for your dreams, believe in yourself and keep pushing even when nobody is watching. Having my music recognised on platforms like Metro FM and Trace Ngoma is proof that where you come from does not determine how far you can go. I want my journey to inspire young people to choose their dreams over drugs, crime and violence. I’m not just making music to be heard; I’m building a legacy and showing the next generation that greatness can come from our own streets,” said Zungu.

His words reflect a determination to make a difference beyond the entertainment industry, particularly among young people who may feel limited by their circumstances.

In communities where substance abuse, crime and unemployment remain pressing concerns, his journey offers an example of how music and creative expression can provide a positive outlet for ambition and personal development.

His achievements also highlight the growing opportunities available to independent musicians who are determined to build their careers despite the challenges of entering the entertainment industry.

The musician’s progress demonstrates how dedication, creativity and persistence can help emerging artists gain recognition beyond their immediate surroundings.

As Slova Slate continues to build his musical career, his achievements serve as encouragement to aspiring entertainers who dream of seeing their work recognised on national platforms.

With television exposure and radio airplay already among his reported milestones, Zungu is focused on building on his achievements and establishing himself as a recognised name in the music industry.

His journey is a reminder that talent can emerge from any community and that determination can open doors to opportunities once considered out of reach.
