The community of Drieziek 5 came alive between 30 August and 28 September during the 8th Annual Uncle 11 Soccer Tournament, which concluded with thrilling finals on 28 September.

Hosted by Andries “Uncle 11” Ramara, the competition featured Top 16 sides across five divisions – U11, U13, U15, U17, and First Teams – showcasing the depth of football talent in the area.

Champions by Division

U11: Ambitiouz FC (Ext 1) defeated Drieziek Lions FC 2–1. Both finalists received new soccer kits, with the champions also lifting a trophy and medals.

U13: Drieziek Lions FC overcame Dangerous Dakies FC 2–0. Both finalists received new kits, with the Lions crowned champions.

U15: Messi Academy triumphed 4–1 over Chokis Junior Stars FC, taking home the trophy and medals alongside their new kit.

U17: Young Tigers FC edged Soccer Promoters FC 4–3 on penalties after a goalless draw, securing the title and prizes.

First Teams: Vlakfontein Man City FC defeated Soweto’s Power Park FC 3–1 on penalties following a 1–1 draw. The champions walked away with R10,000 in cash, a new kit, a trophy, and medals.

The tournament, which has become a cornerstone of the local sporting calendar, was established with the aim of reducing crime and curbing gangsterism in the community.

Beyond the competition, organisers emphasise that sport and education are vital tools in shaping and disciplining young minds.

Now in its eighth year of success, the Andries “Uncle” Ramara Tournament continues to unite the community while nurturing the next generation of football talent.
