In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering teenage girls across South Africa, loveLife and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) joined forces to unveil the Oky App, a revolutionary period tracker and menstrual health application.
The much-anticipated launch event took place at the LoveLife Y-Centre, drawing a diverse audience of teenage girls and key stakeholders. The Oky App represents a pivotal step in prioritizing the menstrual health and hygiene (MHH) of South African teenage girls and young women.
Designed to seamlessly integrate into their daily lives, the app empowers users to monitor their menstrual cycles while fostering a supportive community where they can serve as peer mentors on MHH issues.
At the heart of loveLife’s mission lies a commitment to equipping young people with the knowledge and resources needed to make informed decisions about their health. Inspired by this vision, the creation of the Oky App embodies a peer-led approach, empowering users to navigate challenges related to menstrual health with confidence and resilience.
By harnessing the power of digital technology, loveLife and UNICEF are not only revolutionizing period tracking but also fostering a culture of open dialogue and empowerment surrounding menstrual health.
Through the Oky App, teenage girls are empowered to take control of their periods, advocate for their health and inspire positive change within their communities. As the Oky App sets a new standard for menstrual health advocacy in South Africa, loveLife and UNICEF reaffirm their commitment to championing the rights and well-being of young people, one period at a time.
