Organised by Bethuel Motolo and Stanely ‘Stiga’ Segome, the first U11 Top 16 Ananda Marga Soccer Festival ran from 5 to 26 February at Exchange Ideas Soccer Grounds in Orange Farm Ext 7b.
Sponsored by Dada Krishna, this exhilarating tournament saw Drieziek 4’s Solli Vista FC crowned champions after defeating Lakeside’s Juventus FC 4-3 on penalties. The champions walked away with a soccer kit, ball, trophies, goalkeeper’s gloves and gold medals.
Second-placed Juventus took home trophies, silver medals and a soccer kit while bronze medalists, Madiba United (Ext 7b), won a trophy.
Motolo said: “The festival was a huge success, we are very happy as this was our first time hosting such a tournament. We strive to bring fun days and equal opportunities in sport. Our 8th annual U13 Top 16 Soccer Tournament will be hosted on 13 May at the same venue. We invite clubs to register early.”
