Panthers Ladies produced a dominant performance during the Orange Farm Local Football Association (OFLFA) Women’s Soccer League preparation games held at Masibambane College on Saturday, 6 June sending a strong message ahead of the new season.
The team began the day with an emphatic 6-1 victory over Afrika Tikkun Ladies before delivering the biggest result of the tournament, thrashing Bayern Ladies 10-0 in a ruthless attacking display.
The preparation matches attracted local football supporters and showcased the growing strength of women’s football in Orange Farm. In another exciting encounter, Bayern Ladies edged Orange Farm United Ladies 2-1 in a closely contested match. Afrika Tikkun Ladies recovered from their opening defeat to secure a 2-0 victory over Orange Farm United Ladies later in the day.
The matches formed part of OFLFA’s efforts to prepare teams for the upcoming women’s league season while providing players with valuable game time and competitive experience.
OFLFA Secretary Patrick Mokwena commended the participating teams for their commitment and sportsmanship throughout the event.
“The preparation games are an important platform for teams to assess their readiness for the season and for players to showcase their talent. We are pleased with the level of competition and dedication displayed by all the teams. Women’s football continues to grow in Orange Farm, and we remain committed to creating opportunities that empower young women through sport,” said Mokwena.
He added that the league plays a vital role in building confidence, promoting healthy lifestyles and creating pathways for aspiring female footballers within the community.
Panthers Ladies’ impressive victories have already positioned them as early favourites, while the other teams will be eager to regroup and make their mark when league action officially gets underway.
