The Orange Farms Community Policing Forum (CPF), GBV Brigades, sister law enforcement agencies, the Department of Community Safety, and local NGOs joined forces to host a Gender-Based Violence (GBV) awareness parade at Ext 1 Uniting Reformed Church.
During the event, CPF chairperson Machedi emphasized the importance of educating the community about GBV and informing residents of available support structures. “This initiative shows that when the community stands together, we can break the silence around abuse and give victims the courage to speak out,” said Machedi.
The campaign was divided into three groups, each focusing on different sectors of Orange Farms, ensuring that the message reached as many community members as possible.
The awareness drive forms part of the ongoing commitment by SAPS and its partners to strengthen community safety, raise awareness and encourage victims to seek help.
