A collaborative effort between the South African Police Service (SAPS), the Community Police Forum (CPF) and Gauteng Traffic Wardens brought a crucial school safety awareness campaign to Qoqa Secondary in Ext 1 on Wednesday, 8 May.
Together, these key stakeholders organized an impactful event aimed at combating bullying and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) by educating learners about the serious consequences of such behaviors. The campaign, hosted by SAPS, CPF and Gauteng Traffic Wardens, engaged students in discussions and presentations that defined bullying and GBV while emphasizing their status as criminal offenses.
During the event, participants received insights into the various forms of bullying, including verbal, physical, psychological and social aggression, along with the detrimental effects on both the perpetrators and the victims.
Additionally, the campaign addressed the prohibition of alcohol, drugs and dangerous weapons among adolescents, as well as the importance of discouraging sexual activities to prevent teenage pregnancies.
Furthermore, the initiative strongly condemned illegal initiation school practices on school premises and highlighted the victimization experienced by girls and members of the LGBTQI+ community within school settings.
By joining forces to host this comprehensive awareness campaign, SAPS, CPF and Gauteng Traffic Wardens demonstrated their unwavering commitment to promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
