Orange Farm United’s U15 netball team produced a spirited performance at the Shake Netball Tournament, proudly representing Orange Farm and advancing to the quarter-finals before bowing out of the competition.
The team opened the tournament with a hard-fought 9-9 draw against Victoria Vixens before recording an impressive 13-4 victory over Born Free. They continued their strong run by defeating Tseolopele 8-6 to secure a place in the knockout stages.
Orange Farm United also faced Fly Ballers in a closely contested encounter, narrowly losing 9-8 in a match that showcased the team’s fighting spirit and ability to compete against strong opposition.
Their tournament came to an end in the quarter-finals after a 16-10 defeat to Falcons. Despite the result, the players remained competitive throughout the match and left the court with valuable experience gained against quality opposition.
Coach Sinethemba Zondo praised the players for the commitment and determination they displayed throughout the tournament.
“I am proud of the girls for the way they represented Orange Farm. They showed resilience, played with heart and gave their all in every match. Reaching the quarter-finals is something to build on, and we will continue working hard to come back even stronger,” said Zondo.
The team’s performances throughout the tournament highlighted the growth of netball within Orange Farm United and provided valuable experience for the young players. Their quarter-final finish is a positive achievement and offers a strong foundation as they continue to develop and prepare for future competitions.
