Orange Farm SAPS has warned residents not to fall victim to a fraudulent police recruitment advertisement circulating on social media.
Police said the advertisement falsely claims to offer employment opportunities within the South African Police Service and is being circulated by a person identified as Dumesani Mahlangu, using the email address Dumisani.mahlangu.gov.outlook.com.
The person demands an immediate payment of R850, claiming the money is required for medical examinations or application processing.
“Applicants must never pay money to secure employment with SAPS. Any request for payment should immediately be treated as fraudulent,” Acting Station Commander Colonel TG Mofokeng warned.
SAPS stressed that legitimate vacancies are advertised only on its official website, www.saps.gov.za, and that applicants will never be asked to pay a fee at any stage of the recruitment process.
Residents are urged not to share personal or banking details and to report suspicious recruitment messages to their nearest police station.
