On 11 November, the City of Johannesburg took a significant step in restoring dignity and security to local families with the handover of 293 title deeds to residents of Dreiziek 4 and 5.
The handover was led by the MMC for Human Settlements, Cllr Mlungisi Masabo, alongside other City of Joburg officials, as residents-many of whom had waited for years-finally received legal proof of ownership of their homes. Emotions ran high as beneficiaries shared their gratitude, describing the title deeds as more than just documents.
For them, they represent security, stability and dignity, as well as the freedom to invest in and protect their properties for future generations. The milestone forms part of the City of Joburg’s ongoing commitment to put residents first, ensuring access to secure tenure and strengthening communities through formal home ownership.
