On 14 October, Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi, accompanied by senior SAPS officials from Orange Farms, including Brigadier MJ Manamela, visited the grieving families in Dalibhulinga, Mokotlong.
The visit aimed to extend condolences and support to the families left devastated by a recent mass shooting. Local ward councillors, including Msingathi, were also in attendance to offer solidarity.
Orange Farms SAPS Sgt Motsapi said: “The tragedy unfolded when a known tavern owner reportedly opened fire, leading to the deaths of seven individuals. After committing the crime, the suspect reportedly turned the gun on himself. He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.”
“The visit was prompted by this heart-wrenching incident and we’re here to support the affected families through this difficult time,” Motsapi added.
Earlier in the day, the Victim Friendly Facility (VFF) Coordinator and social workers also visited the community to facilitate debriefing sessions, providing essential support for victims and their families.
