Today, children in Evaton West Ext 3 enjoy a day of learning, fun and personal development as the Gauteng Department of Social Development (GDSD) hosted a School Holidays Programme at its Prototype Centre in the Southern Corridor.
According to the Gauteng Department of Social Development, the initiative forms part of its ongoing child protection efforts aimed at providing children with a safe and supportive environment during the school holiday period.
The programme offered a range of educational and recreational activities designed to keep children positively engaged while helping them develop valuable life skills. Such initiatives also provide peace of mind for parents and caregivers by ensuring children have access to supervised activities during school breaks.
Child protection remains one of the department’s key priorities, with programmes like these helping to reduce children’s exposure to potential risks while promoting their overall well-being and development.
The department says it remains committed to creating opportunities that allow young people to learn, play and grow in safe spaces across Gauteng.
The School Holidays Programme is one of several community-based initiatives implemented by GDSD to support children and strengthen families throughout the province. Through partnerships with local communities and stakeholders, the department continues working to ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive in a secure and nurturing environment.
