A local soup kitchen, Kids Kos, has been providing meals to underprivileged children in Drieziek 4, since last yeat November , helping families facing food insecurity.
The soup kitchen operates at least one day a week due to limited funding. Along with serving nutritious meals, Kids Kos offers a safe space where children can take part in games and activities aimed at learning and social development.
Kids Kos is run by volunteers Thabiso Rabolele, Lerato Maleke, Baasie Pienaar, Tshwarelo Nxumalo and Nandipha Roqa, who give their time to support children in the community.
“The initiative focuses on feeding children in need, reducing hunger in the area and encouraging community members to get involved through volunteering and donations,” said Thabiso Rabolele.
“Kids Kos was started because no child should go to bed hungry. Even though we only operate at least one day a week due to limited funding, we are committed to giving children nutritious meals and a safe space,” he added.
The organisation is appealing for any form of donation to help keep the project running. Those willing to assist can contact 083 477 4616 or 082 621 4688.
