At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, a group of ambitious young individuals from Orange Farm came together with a shared vision-to celebrate and redefine Pantsula culture.
This vision gave birth to Young Hustlers Pantsula (YHP), a collective determined to showcase the true essence of Pantsula beyond the stereotypes of crime and negativity.
Comprising young entrepreneurs, artists and performers, YHP is not just about dance-it’s about culture, identity and empowerment. The group embraces various aspects of Pantsula, including music, dance, art, food and entrepreneurship, proving that the culture is a force for positivity and innovation.
“For us, Pantsula is more than just a dance-it’s a way of life, a movement of resilience and creativity. We want the world to see Pantsula as a culture of excellence, discipline and economic empowerment, not just as an art form,” said Gontse Selaoco, one of the founding members.
YHP’s impact extends beyond the dance floor. The group actively works across industries, using their skills to inspire the next generation. Their dedication has put Orange Farm on the map as a hub of young, hardworking entrepreneurs proving that township talent can thrive on a global stage.
The dynamic team includes: Gontse Selaoco; Thapelo; Nomathemba Sithole; Themba Mdzeke; Thabang Khumalo; Ntokozo Radebe; Teboho Mokhatla and Ackim.
Through passion and persistence, Young Hustlers Pantsula is rewriting the story of their culture-one bold step at a time!
