From recycled fashion to traditional attire and the pressure of the final question-and-answer round, 16 contestants brought their A-game to Miss Drieziek 2026, with Khanyisile Mgandi walking away with the main crown.
The pageant, hosted by Miss Royalty Mally Academy at Kwazwi Lifestyle Corner in Drieziek 3 on 11 October, gave young girls a platform to showcase their abilities while promoting empowerment and encouraging youth to stay away from drugs.
The competition tested contestants across five segments, including casual wear introductions, creative recycling outfits, traditional wear, spring wear and evening gowns.
Recycled fashion stood out as contestants transformed plastic, paper and other waste materials into creative outfits. Traditional attire also celebrated the area’s cultural diversity, with Zulu, Sotho, Xhosa and Tsonga styles represented.
Mgandi was crowned Miss Drieziek 2026, with Keneiloe Ramaota named first runner-up and Precious Motaung second runner-up.
Busisiwe Maphike took the Teen Drieziek title, followed by Lusanda Sibeko and Rorisang Montshi. In the Pre-Teen category, Louisa R was crowned queen, while Skhanyiso Maphosa received the overall winner title. Nolwazi Dlamini and Tshegofatso Molete placed first and second runners-up.
Mbali Nkuzani claimed the Little Miss Drieziek crown, with Siphesihle Maphosa as first runner-up.
Despite limited funding, the academy thanked Kwazwi Lifestyle Corner, parents and supporters for helping make the event possible.
The organisers said the pageant aims to nurture confidence, celebrate local talent and create positive opportunities for young people in Drieziek.
