Dipontsho Disability Projects (DDP) was established in 2022 with the aim of fostering creative awareness and abilities among persons with disabilities. The organization was founded by Pontsho Mthetwa, a well-known advocate for persons with disabilities, gender-based violence, and children’s rights.
DDP is a community-based NPC that champions inclusion in society and schools. On 26 September, the organization hosted its Diversity Heritage Event at the Ext 2 Community Hall, highlighting the talents and cultures of persons with disabilities. The event provided a platform for showcasing art, literature, and cultural heritage, benefiting both participants and their caregivers through meaningful partnerships.
The event featured presentations and an arts exhibition from disability schools and community stakeholders. Blue Ribbon brought Jabu on stage, creating an exciting dance competition where participants received gifts for their performances. Attendees enjoyed a vibrant display of cultural dress and a celebration of diverse talents.
DDP expressed appreciation to all who contributed to the event, including the Children’s Unit, O/F Libraries, Blue Ribbon, PCO and GBV Brigade, Banzi Creations, DSJ, Modimo O Moholo for Disabled, Joseph Motivators, Parademics Edu Centre for Disabled, Isigqu Se I Ntombi Dancers, SELTI, Adams Gallery, and GenG, whose support made the celebration possible.
Mthetwa said: “We are excited to announce the School Holiday Camp, starting on 6 October at the Ext 2 Community Hall, promising more engagement, learning, and fun for participants.”
