On 19 April, the PLPDL Community Football League whisked our Stretford Finest FC squads off to Meadowlands, Soweto, for a Region ‑ to ‑ Region encounter against Fluerhof United Football Academy (FUFA).
At the SilverPipe ground – Meadowlands Academy’s home turf in Zone 1-Stretford Finest’ U‑11s, 13s and 15s all produced fantastic performances. U11s triumphed 3 – 0 U13s edged it 2 – 0 U15s came through 4 – 3.
PLPDL chairperson, Molefi Mpe, told OFN: “This trip was more than just football; it was about broadening horizons and building confidence from a young age. It was brilliant to see our boys adapt so quickly to an away environment. For many, it was their first time exploring Meadowlands, and the excitement was palpable. We believe in teaching our youngsters that their talents know no bounds – Orange Farm today, the big leagues tomorrow!”

They’ve already promised to return the favour – proof that community football truly builds lasting connections.
