A vibrant STI and Condom Week Campaign was held on 12 February in Orange Farm Ext 3b (Batho Bareng, corner Bree), hosted by Sizanani Community Development Project (CDP). The campaign brought essential and life-changing health services directly to the community, creating a welcoming space for residents to access free screenings, testing and professional health support.
The initiative offered HIV testing and counselling, blood pressure and blood glucose checks, TB screening, Pap smears, de-worming, vitamin supplements, PrEP and ART initiation, as well as dedicated youth-friendly services — all aimed at promoting early detection, prevention and healthier lifestyles within the community.
Nomsa Sibaya, Project Manager at Sizanani Community Development Project, told OFN: “Events like this give our community essential health access and education in one place.”
The campaign was supported by a network of local stakeholders, including Stretford CHC, Barney Molokoane Clinic, Afia Tai, Jozi Ihlomile, Tiko, Isizinda Sempilo, Isigcu Sabomama, Empowerment Hub, and the Solly Mkhabela Foundation. Councillor Makhosi Ndlela also attended.
Sibaya added, “Community members were treated to refreshments and received bread to take home, generously sponsored by Tiko, AA Super So and Total Garage. We are truly grateful to our sponsors for their support in helping us provide these essential items and making the event a success.”
Sizanani CDP says The initiative highlights a growing commitment to bringing accessible, preventative healthcare to Orange Farm, while raising awareness on sexual health and youth wellbeing.
