The soccer field at Solwazi Grounds was a hive of energy and youth talent from 8 to 15 June, as it hosted a thrilling Ananda Marga Youth Day U15 Top 32 Football Tournament.
In a week packed with spirited competition, Soccer Promoters FC emerged victorious, claiming the championship title, while Chokis Junior Stars FC secured a well-earned second place.
The event was more than just a tournament it was a celebration of youth empowerment through sport. Organised in collaboration with Clement Mpe, Deputy Chairperson of the Orange Farm Sports Council and Mapule Maluka, Deputy Secretary of the PLPDL Community Football League and Competition NPC, the week-long spectacle provided a platform for young footballers to showcase their skills and passion.
The finals were witnessed by excited crowds and capped off with a vibrant prize-giving ceremony. Winners received trophies, gold and silver medals, soccer kits and balls – generously sponsored and presented by Dada Gunatmananda and Dada Krishna of Ananda Marga, a global spiritual and social service organisation.
Dada Krishna shared his thoughts with Orange Farm News: “The tournament went well. Our aim is to uplift young people and encourage their involvement in sport and healthy lifestyles. Through Ananda Marga, we support initiatives that foster discipline, unity and all-round development, physically, mentally and spiritually. That’s why we organise such tournaments and also provide food, fruits, sweets and juice. It’s about nurturing the body and spirit.”
The event not only highlighted the football talent within Orange Farm but also strengthened community ties and reminded everyone of the power of sport to inspire hope, resilience and growth among young people.
