A devastating shack fire in Ext 7b on the night of 27 April has left a father heartbroken and homeless after the blaze claimed the life of his five-year-old son. The fire, which broke out at midnight, completely gutted their home, destroying all their belongings, including clothes and furniture.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were called to the scene, but despite their swift response, the flames had already spread beyond control. “By the time our team arrived, the fire had already engulfed the shack. They tried their best, but the flames were too strong. Sadly, we couldn’t save the child,” said EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi.
