Thomas Goreseb-Maseko has confirmed that he will testify before the CRL Rights Commission’s Section 7 Public Hearings into the disappearance of Ntando Ngozo, saying he remains committed to seeking justice despite facing threats and intimidation.
The hearings, set to begin on 4 August 2026, will examine concerns surrounding initiation-related deaths, disappearances, violence and the need for stronger oversight within initiation practices.
Goreseb-Maseko has supported the Ngozo family in their search for answers and has engaged with the Commission on issues including accountability, the implementation of the Customary Initiation Act and the protection of initiates.
He said the decision by the CRL Rights Commission to hold the hearings is a significant step towards addressing challenges affecting communities and ensuring that Ngozo’s disappearance receives proper attention.
“This is the culmination of months of advocacy and a commitment to ensuring that Ntando Ngozo’s disappearance is not forgotten,” Goreseb-Maseko said.
He added that his involvement in the matter came with personal challenges, including threats that affected his safety and daily life. Despite this, he said he remained determined to continue supporting the family and advocating for accountability.
Goreseb-Maseko said the upcoming hearings provide an opportunity to uncover the truth and address broader concerns around initiation practices.
He said the process should help strengthen accountability, protect initiates and ensure cultural practices are not exploited by criminal elements.
Goreseb-Maseko also praised the CRL Rights Commission and the Ngozo family for their efforts in seeking answers, saying he will approach the hearings with the aim of contributing towards meaningful reforms.
“The disappearance of Ntando Ngozo deserves answers. His family deserves justice, and our communities deserve accountability,” he said.
