The National Institute of Community Development and Management (NICDAM) is currently implementing an Intensive Economic Strengthening (IES) programme in the City of Johannesburg’s regions F, D and G.

The programme is held on behalf of FHI360, an international organisation focusing on development matters. NICDAM helps young women between the ages of 20 and 24 to type CV’s, print copies, apply for jobs, learnerships and internships, offers them skills to start businesses and conducts interview readiness training, amongst others.

The Orange Farm satellite office is based at Nelgate Shopping Complex and is manned by Emmanuel Madumise – district manager; Rebecca Ledwaba – training coordinator and IES mentors – Thandi Mofokeng; Tsholofelo Ramothibe; Palesa Lazarus; Nwabisa Ntabeni and Nontsikelelo Ndzima.

Madumise told OFN: “We invite Young women in Orange Farm and region G to come to our offices and get empowered.”

Founded by Dr Alta and Steph LeRoux in 1999, NICDAM aims to decrease young women’s reliance on transactional sex and strengthen their self-efficacy. It utilises a layered, market-driven and evidence-based approach to provide targeted economic strengthening activities based on local economic opportunities, age, interests and capabilities.

For more info please call Emmanuel Madumise on 078 637 6708, Rebecca Ledwaba on 065 562 8398 or email: Emadumise@nicdam.co.za
